How Find My Quiet Sound works

Sound generation
White noise is random samples; pink and brown noise are white noise passed through filters so that energy falls with frequency. Loops are generated with a pre-roll cross-fade so the last sample flows into the first — no click, no gap. Nature sounds are layers of filtered noise with slow modulation and small random events (rain droplets, fire crackles, bird calls, crickets), so they never repeat exactly.
Mixing
Up to five sounds run at once, each with a gain, a low-pass filter and a stereo panner, into a master chain with a gentle limiter. Per-sound loudness trims keep the sliders feeling balanced. Everything ramps — nothing starts abruptly.
Frequency tools
The frequency generator uses an oscillator (or a filtered noise band for hiss-like tinnitus) with 1 Hz resolution from 20 Hz to 16 kHz and a lower level cap than other sounds. Find My Tinnitus Sound is a guided version with an octave check.
Visuals
All visuals are procedural Canvas drawings with a global movement level (Still / Low / Medium / High), a Reduce Motion switch that also follows your device setting, and nothing that flashes.
Safety rules
- Master volume starts at 35% and is never restored above 60%.
- Every sound fades in (about 1.2 s) and out; journeys cross-fade over a minute or more.
- A limiter prevents spikes when layering.
- A warning appears above 75% master.
- No feature raises the volume on its own.
